It’s so annoying how many people will say any sugar at all ever is unhealthy because that’s what we all get told! It’s healthy to have joy actually. And definitely better than smoking. Also I get offended when I try and offer people cake on my birthday and they are like “i’m trying to be healthy” …so am I and I want it to include cake!!

Cheering perilously with a mouth full of Tony’s. When I stopped drinking I started ordering sticky toffee puddings in the pub instead, and the SCORN I’ve endured for it

Oh what more magnificence than a sticky toffee? I’d rather that than booze anyday xxx

Excellent! Good on you for quitting the cigs, too.

We went for a pub dinner yesterday with a big group. Read the room wrong and my wife and I were the only ones who ordered dessert, which took 20+ mins (too long) to arrive - felt a bit awkward as everyone essentially watched us wolfing down sticky toffee puddings but no regrets. None at all.

Heck yeah baby. I was once eating a chocolate bar in an elevator IN MY TWENTIES when a man I didn't know told me I'd get fat. Cake please.

There was a super fun Guilty Feminist episode about it (I think one of the first ones, 2 about Food), where they sat a challenge to just go into a fancy cake shop, and unapologetically order a massive piece of cake, or 2, and sit there and eat it and enjoy it without feeling bad. It is a political act. We shouldn't be ashamed for enjoying something. Especially not of fancy men tell us it's unladylike! ✨💪🍰

👌👏That afternoon tea looks incredible. Do you remember where it was? I can't eat the 'quality' chocolate, as anything over about 60% gives me a migraine, but I also hate Cadbury's claggy milk chocolate. It's okay though, this just gives me a mission to find the delicious middle ground.

Mmmmm.... Pudding! I am legendary in my family for pudding, and my grandad was as well. The one and only time we were ever defeated by a pudding was a particularly huge Death by Chocolate in Gibraltar. It was hot and there was no air conditioning, so the big, fudgey dessert was just too much for us - that's my excuse, anyway!

So gorgeous. “It is a political act to eat cake with relish. To say, a big piece please, a huge slab for me, to inhabit the space that is meant only for treats, for little bites, to hold yourself back from its bacchanal pleasures.” YES!!!

I’ve just written something about the political act of reclaiming your joy and your worthiness so it resonates a lot. Thank you for sharing these words with the world! ❤️

Thank you! I realise now it should say, ‘to not hold yourself back’ but I’m totally cool with that. (Eats a chocolate cake immediately)

Italian Bear hot chocolate is the only one that has defeated me. There was just so much chocolate as they also drench the cup in melted chocolate. But the couple beside me managed their drinks and cakes. I wanted to high five them out of respect!
